USD 420 is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to serve in a multi-faceted leadership role. This position serves as the official Board Clerk for the Board of Education, manages the district’s Payroll and Benefits, and provides administrative oversight as the Food Service Director. You will be a vital "behind-the-scenes anchor," ensuring the district remains compliant, fiscally sound, and capable of meeting the nutritional needs of our students.
Meeting Management: Attend all Board of Education meetings; record, prepare, and publish official minutes.
Records Custodian: Maintain care and custody of all district records, books, and legal documents.
Policy Oversight: Ensure Board policies are updated and assist the Superintendent with the Kansas Open Meetings Act.
Reporting: Certify enrollment data to the State Board of Education and handle legal publications for the district.
Payroll Processing: Implement legal payroll in accordance with negotiated agreements and contracts.
Benefits Administration: Manage the Health Insurance, Cafeteria 125, and 403(b) plans; serve as the KPERS designated agent.
Reporting: Complete monthly and quarterly payroll reporting, including W-2s and 1095s.
Onboarding: Facilitate new employee onboarding and maintain accurate personnel files.
Program Compliance: Oversee the Child Nutrition Program (CNP) to ensure compliance with federal (USDA) and state (KSDE) regulations.
Financial Oversight: Reconcile monthly food service bank statements and submit reimbursement claims.
Management: Ensure all kitchen employees meet continuing education hours.
Operations: Manage the Free/Reduced Meal application process and maintain proficiency in KN-CLAIM and PowerSchool.
Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration preferred.
Experience: Previous experience in school district administration, payroll, or food service management is highly desirable.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software (Softward Unliminted/PowerSchool experience a plus).
